This a Beach Closure update for Thursday, January 18th at 9:30 in the morning
Due to very high surf creating dangerous shoreline conditions and the National Weather Service High Surf Warning for all west facing shores of Hawaii Island, the following beach parks are closed today;
In Kona, Kahalu`u Beach Park and Kua Bay
In Kohala, the Warf at Mahukona Beach Park
Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Waves this large can cause injury and death.
Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials; and when in doubt, don’t go out.
