Civil Defense message.

This is a High Surf Warning update for Sunday, January 21st at 7 AM.

The National Weather Service High Surf Warning remains in effect for all for all west facing shores of Hawaii Island, from Upolu Point in North Kohala through Kona to South Point in Ka`u through today.

Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers, exercise caution and heed all advice given by ocean safety officials; and when in doubt, don’t go out.

Due to expected wide-spread High Surf Warning conditions for the west coast of Hawaii Island, camping is not permitted today at Kohanaiki Beach Park in Kona, Kahalu`u Beach Park in Kona and the Wharf at Mahukona Beach Park in Kohala are closed today.

Please be advised that other west coast beach parks may be closed as conditions change.
