Water Conservation Poster Contest to April 30

HILO, HAWAI‘I – The Department of Water Supply (DWS), County of Hawai‘i, announces it
has extended the entry deadline for its 7th Annual Keiki Water Conservation Poster Contest and will
continue accepting posters until Wednesday, April 30.
The extension provides Hawai‘i Island kindergarteners through sixth graders more time to

submit their original artworks illustrating this year’s theme “Being Water Wise is …” by showing

how using water wisely can help to conserve our most precious resource – safe drinking water.

Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality, and depiction of the theme. Water

Conservation educational resources can be found under the “Conservation” link at

www.hawaiidws.org.

Poster contest entries should be accompanied by a completed entry form attached below,
available at www.hawaiidws.org, via email by contacting dws@hawaiidws.org or by calling DWS
weekdays, excluding holidays, at (808) 961-8050. Contest entries should be mailed to DWS in Hilo
or dropped off at DWS’ offices in Hilo, Kona or Waimea by Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Address
locations and contest rules are listed on the entry form below and at www.hawaiidws.org.
There is no charge to enter the contest, and prizes will be awarded to the top three entries, as
determined by judges, from each grade level. DWS will award prizes valued at $150 to each
winner, prizes valued at $100 to each second-place finisher, and prizes valued at $50 to each third place finisher.
Founded in 1949, the Department of Water Supply is a semi-autonomous agency of the

County of Hawai‘i. The Department’s mission is to provide customers with an adequate and

continuous supply of safe drinking water in a financially responsible manner through the operation

of its 23 separate public water systems that combined deliver approximately 25 million gallons of

water each day to Hawai‘i Island communities.
