Mālama Kaua‘i seeking farmers and agricultural projects for a new ag park
Mālama Kauaʻi is seeking prospective farmers interested in licensing a farm plot on their new Olohena ‘ĀINA Center (OAC), an 87-acre ag park,which includes farm plots, agroforestry, and shared facilities for farmers including a wash and pack area, greenhouse, cold storage, and a meeting/business space. Interested producers can submit their information here to get updates on the project and receive invitations to participate in feedback sessions on facility planning. Mālama Da Farmer ag theft prevention camera program
The Mālama Da Farmer program through the Hawaiʻi Food Basket has announced an ag theft prevention camera program. Security cameras are now available for farmers and producers on Hawaiʻi Island in Council District 6 (Kaʻū, portions of South Kona, Volcano) who have experienced agricultural theft or are concerned about potential theft. This initiative, funded by District 6 Councilwoman Michelle Galimba, offers cameras on a first-come, first-serve basis. Visit the Mālama Da Farmer website for more information and to apply.
Mālama Da Farmer grant deadline extended to April 7, 2025
The Hawaiʻi Food Basket (HFB) Mālama Da Farmer grant program is still accepting applications. These grants aim to support economic recovery of small food producers in Hawaiʻi County whose businesses were financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The County awarded funds to HFB to drive an increase in local food production by providing support to eligible small businesses and nonprofits interested in expanding their operations. 2025 Carbon Smart Land Management Assistance Pilot Program
The Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) seeks to provide financial incentive payments to owners and lessees of eligible lands for projects to promote soil health and carbon sequestration benefits. Eligible entities include but are not limited to: private landowners and lessees or those with documented access and rights to land management, community organizations, hui, networks and hubs, schools, and businesses. Multiple awards will be made under this request for proposals. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2025 (5:00 p.m. HST). View the program RFP.
