Annual ‘Ohana Shoreline Fishing Tournament
Held Aug. 15-17

 

The County of Hawai‘i Department of Parks and Recreation invites anglers to register for the 27th annual ‘Ohana Shoreline Fishing Tournament to be held Aug. 15-17.

Registration packets, including tournament rules, are available at Parks and Recreation facilities island-wide, J. Hara Store in Kurtistown, S. Tokunaga Store in Hilo, Hawaiian Island Creations in Waimea, and A. Arakaki Store in Kohala.

The forms also can be found online at the Parks and Recreation, Recreation Division web page at: https://www.parks.hawaiicounty.gov/facilities-parks/recreation.

Completed registration forms must be mailed into the Recreation Division office at 799 Pi‘ilani St., Hilo, HI 96720 and postmarked by Friday, Aug. 1. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. MAIL IN ONLY. Please make checks payable to the County of Hawai‘i Director of Finance.

Weigh-ins will be conducted from 12-1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17 at the Honoka‘a Sports Complex, 45-541 Lehua St. in Honoka‘a.

The tournament features six separate divisions: Men’s (18-54 years old), Women’s (18-54 years old), Teens (13-17 years old), Keiki (5-12 years old), Kupuna (55 years of age and older), and ‘Ohana (families).

Participants may enter one individual division, plus the ‘ohana division. There will also be an invasive species division that all entrants are automatically entered into, as well an art contest. Please mail all artworks with the registration form and payment.
Entry fees are:

• Men’s and Women’s Divisions, $35.
• Teens, Keiki and Kupuna Division, $30.
• ‘Ohana Division, $25 per team, which can consist of ONLY ONE ADULT and up to three keiki or teens.

Valuable gift card prizes and awards will be presented for the top 10 heaviest fish in the Men’s, Women’s, Teens, Keiki, and Kupuna Divisions. Top ‘Ohana Division teams will also win a prize pack. The one participant who catches the most targeted invasive fish will win the invasive species category. The art contest winner will have his or her artwork published on the 2026 ‘Ohana Shoreline Fishing Tournament Flyer and win a prize.
