Overnight road closures from 10 p.m. July 10 to 6 a.m. July 11
HILO, July 8, 2025 – Hawaiian Electric crews will replace utility poles on Mamalahoa Highway in Kona on Thursday evening, July 10. The overnight work will require a closure of Mamalahoa Highway from 10 p.m. on July 10 to 6 a.m. on July 11.
The two road closures will be between Waiaha Road and Water Pipe Road (mile markers 5 and 6) and near Helani Congregational Church (mile markers 1 and 2).
Motorists are advised to use Kuakini Highway as an alternate route and to drive with caution if approaching the work zone. Flagmen will be onsite to provide traffic control while the work is being performed.
