Hawaiʻi County Warns Public of Text Scams
The County of Hawaiʻi Finance Department is asking residents to be aware of text scams that are circulating.
These fraudulent text messages claim to be from the “Hawaiʻi Department of Motor Vehicles” or “Hawaiʻi DMV” and ask the recipient to visit a link to pay outstanding fines.
These links are designed to steal personal and financial information. Do not click the links or provide personal, financial, or vehicle information through unknown websites.
The County Vehicle Registration and Licensing Division does not request payment or personal information by text, over the phone, or by email.
