Gilbert “Beto” Gutierres, 64, of Kapaau died Sept. 12 at home. Born in Kohala, he was an equipment operator for the county Department of Public Works Highways Division and member of Kohala Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Kohala Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawi County Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Faye “Ilima” Gutierres of Kapaau; sons, Davin K. Gutierres of Honolulu, Blake M.K. Gutierres of Washington state and Dylan “Ahia” Gutierres of Kohala; brother, Kelvin (Pat) Gutierres of Kentucky; sisters, Cynthia (Eugene) Amar, Rosemary (Jeffrey) Yamamoto and Priscilla (Ralph) Galan of Kohala; sisters-in-law, Harriet Kuuipo (Stanley) Nakasone and Lucy Kaohu of Hilo, Patricia (Derrick) Niibu of Lanai and Eiko Kaohu of Kohala; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
