Clifford Kazuto Aiona, 80, of Kapaau died June 18 at home. Retired from the former Hawaiian Telephone Co., he played and coached basketball, loved fishing and Hawaiian music, his grandchildren, talking story and playing the poker machines in Las Vegas. Private services. Ssurvived by partner, Cynthia Aiona of Kohala; sons, Sheldon Aiona andVincent ( Erin Pajimola) Aiona of Kohala, Bryson Gomes of Waimea; daughters, Melanie (Graham Haines) Aiona of Waimea and Hulalai Kaapana of Hilo; siblings, Hannah DeMotta of Hilo, Adeline Cho of Honolulu, Marion (Brian) Kim of Kohala, Larry (Linda) Aiona of Kona, Leonard (Pauline) Aiona of Indiana, Laura (William) Yamamoto and Eva Lani (Harvey) Caravalho of Kohala; brother-in-law, Alvin Coit Sr. of Las Vegas; caregivers, Donovan Aiona, Samantha Aiona and Debra Medeiros of Kohala; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
