Roberto “Alapaki” Albert Tampos Sr., 76, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 1 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Kohala, he was a retired telephone switchman installer for the former Hawaiian Telephone Co., retired UPS worker, owner of the former Alapaki’s store, owner of original Maui Divers and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kona Ward in Kailua-Kona. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. He is survived by son, Roberto (Margaret) Tampos Jr. of Honolulu; daughter, Evalani (Cathy) Tampos of Hilo; hanai son, Brad (Shelly) Ward of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Marian (Miriam) Reyes of Hilo and Agnes (Daling) Chabotte of Kailua-Kona; nieces, nephews and cousins.
