Mary Caravalho Moniz, 90, of Kapaau died Sept. 7 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Holualoa, she was a retired dining room supervisor for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and member of Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Kohala Puerto Rican Social Club. Visitation 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawi County Cemetery. “Casual elegant” attire. Survived by husband, Robert Moniz of Kapaau; children, Robin Moniz of Honolulu, Bobbie Jean Moniz of Baker City, Ore., Roberta (Rudy) Garcia of Hawi, Dudley Moniz of Waimea and Ricky Moniz of Kona; brothers, Richard (Thelma) Caravalho and Claude (Sandy) Caravalho Jr. of Kohala; sister, Elizabeth (Alec) Mattos of Hilo; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
