30-year-old hiker dies after falling from Hanakapiai Falls Trail

HA’ENA STATE PARK, Hawaii — A 30-year-old man from New York died Sunday at Hanakapiai Falls on Kauai’s North Shore.

Matthew Wu apparently fell off the trail Sunday and first responders found his body about 30 feet below Hanakapiai Falls, according to a Kauai Police Department news release.

Kauai Fire Department personnel and Air 1 helped recover Wu’s body.
