Vernon Karratti

Vernon K. Karratti, 67, of Kapaau, died on Sept. 16, 2018, at his home in Kapaau. He was born on Aug. 8, 1951, in Maile. He attended Honolulu Community College and became a professional painter and owner of VK Painting. He was an active member in the community and was involved in numerous youth sports. He was also the founder and former president of Kohala Baseball League (Youth Support Group).

Friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Oct. 20 at Jodo Mission Hall in North Kohala for a 10:30 a.m. service with cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary, Inc. Casual attire.

He is preceded in death by mother, Maryann Thornton; brother, William Karratti; sister, Glorie “Sandy” Thornton and son Clarence “Boy” Kealoha.

He is survived by father, William H Thornton, 97, of Kapaau; wife, Elizabeth Karratti of Kapaau; son, Vernon WT (Bambi) Karratti of Kapaau; daughters, Verina (Boy) Fong of Kailua-Kona, Nalani (Bulla) Reich of Kamuela, Vergina (Ka’i) Karratti of Kapaau; brothers, Richard (Cindy) Karratti of Virginia, Rialrome (Anu) Thornton of Honolulu, Charles Karratti of Kapaau; sisters, Lourisla (Allen) Kauanoe of Kapaau, Marielran (Wayne) Akana and Zariai (Peter) Kaheaku of Honolulu, Naomi Thornton of Kapaau, Gwendolyn Wallace and Barbara Jean Karratti of Las Vegas; hanai sons, Teddy (Shantelle) Akau of Kamuela, Itchy (Robbie) Igarashi of Kapaau, Earl Hoshida of Hawi and Keone (Millicent) Glory of Halaula; two godchildren; one hanai grandson, 37 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
