William “Yama” Yamamoto, 84, of Hilo died Feb. 21 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Niulii, Kohala, he was a retired heavy equipment mechanic for the former Pacific Machinery and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Sunday (March 8) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 6 p.m. Burial noon, Monday March 9, at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Mildred Yamamoto of Hilo; son, Bradford (Ann) Yamamoto Sr. of Hilo; daughters, Liyo Yamamoto-Mancia of Long Beach, Calif., and Nyla Yamamoto of Hilo; brother, Manuel (June) Yamamoto of Kohala; sisters-in-law, Ethel Yamamoto and Hanako Yamamoto of Kohala, Rosemarie Yamamoto of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
