“The quality of the work is so good! I’m impressed with the variety of mediums the classroom teachers and homeschool parents are offering these young artists,” says Wendi Roehrig, Waimea Arts Council Board Member who coordinates the show.

Previous Nā ‘Ōpia artists have continued making art and some have even gone on to acclaimed professional careers.   These young artists are on a path to take their art wherever their dreams lead them.

Noelani Loughery-Kawailoa says her vision for The Moment Before Change is to reveal the soul of her friend as she graduates. The 11th grader used graphite on paper for her exquisite portrait of a girl wearing a haku lei as she gazes poignantly into space.

Kai Kualii says he is exploring the feelings and emotions that music can deliver in his digital work Give Life Back to Music.

The Firehouse Gallery in Kamuela/ Waimea hosts this virtual show through its website:  http://www.waimeaartscouncil.org/march2022naopio/.

At the Firehouse Gallery in Waimea Historic Park, the Signs of Spring Show will continue through March 27.
