Civil Defense message.

This is an Eruption update for Saturday, December 3rd at 7 in the morning.

Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reports one active lava flow on the northeast rift of Mauna Loa Volcano.  The leading edge of the flow closest to Daniel K. Inouye Highway continues to have minimal movement and remains near the 7,000 foot elevation and more than 2 miles from the highway.

The Daniel K. Inouye Highway is open in both directions.

Motorists on Daniel K. Inouye, due to vehicle congestion on DKI Highway expect and plan for delays between the 28 and the 34 Mile Markers. Speed limit near the Mauna Kea Access Road and Gilbert Kahele Park has been reduced to 35 MPH.
