Civil Defense message.

This is a High Surf and Beach Closure update for Tuesday, January 23rd at 10:30 in the morning.

The National Weather Service High Surf Advisory for all west facing shores of Hawaii Island remains in effect through Wednesday.

Elevated surf conditions can produce strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers, exercise caution and heed all advice given by ocean safety officials; and when in doubt, don’t go out.

Due to impact caused by high surf, the Wharf at Mahukona Beach Park, Kua Bay, and Mahai`ula (also known as Kekahakai) State Park will remain closed today.

All other beach parks are open.
