This is a High Surf and Beach Closure update for Wednesday, January 24th.
The National Weather Service High Surf Advisory for all west facing shores of Hawaii Island has been extend to Friday.
Elevated surf conditions can produce strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers, exercise caution and heed all advice given by ocean safety officials; and when in doubt, don’t go out.
Due to impact caused by high surf, the Wharf at Mahukona Beach Park, Kua Bay, and Hapuna Beach Parks are closed today.
All other beach parks are reported open.
