Film Showing and Discussion – From Hawai’i to the Holocaust

The story of the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion of the 100th/442nd Regimental Combat Team, a unit composed of Asian-American soldiers that helped liberate Dachau. It’s also the story of two peoples–Jews and Americans of Japanese Ancestry (AJAs)–who both experienced government sanctioned oppression, racism & prejudice during World War II. Former AJA soldiers & Jewish survivors now living in Hawaii share their personal memories of that era.
A discussion will follow the film showing.
