Carole Miyoko Tohara, 99, of Hawi died Sept. 30 at home. Born in Mahukona, she was a self-employed barber, primary teacher and cook at the former Jinho’s in Kawaihae, and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kohala Senior Citizens Club and Kohala Kenjin Kai. Visitation 7:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hawi. Funeral service at 9:30 a.m. Burial noon at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Ryan Tohara of Honolulu, John (Kayce) Tohara of St. George, Utah, and Marshall (Linda) Tohara of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Shari (Paul) Tohara of Kailua-Kona; brother, George (Harriet) Kihara of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
