Grandmother Breaks Second World Record With 1,575 Push-Ups In An Hour

DonnaJean Wilde, a 59-year-old grandmother from Beazer, Alberta, has proven that age is no barrier to greatness.

Last week, Wilde achieved her second Guinness World Records title by completing an astonishing 1,575 push-ups in just 60 minutes, claiming the record for the most push-ups in one hour (female).

This remarkable achievement follows her earlier triumph in March, where she set the record for the longest abdominal plank held by a woman, enduring 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds.

Wilde’s push-up journey began during her plank training, where she performed 500 push-ups daily. Falling in love with the exercise, she channeled her focus and energy into her latest challenge, often training outdoors at her family’s picturesque home in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

“The quiet strength of nature really inspired me,” Wilde shared.

Her determination paid off when, with 17 minutes still on the clock, Wilde surpassed the previous push-up record. She fought through the physical and emotional intensity of the moment to achieve an extraordinary final total.

“I had to fight back the happy tears and emotions and keep going,” she said.

The record attempt took place at a senior’s home, creating a symbolic and supportive setting for her achievement. Wilde’s cheering squad included 11 of her 12 grandchildren, who counted her sets, shouted encouragement, and proudly held a handmade poster reading, “My grandma is officially amazing!”

Independent witnesses verified every push-up, ensuring strict adherence to the required standards, including a 90-degree elbow flexion at the bottom and full extension at the top.

Despite facing a dislocated shoulder near the end, Wilde pressed on, embodying her belief that staying active and setting health goals are key to aging “gracefully and powerfully.”
