multiple vehicles on fire in heavy brush with strong winds
Company 8 responded to an abandoned vehicle fire in a vacant lot offf Leshua St, En route T09 dispatched. Upon arrival multiple vehicles fully involved and heavy brush already burning. Strong ENE winds prevailing spreading fire towards large stands of bamboo. Engine 09, engine 17 and volunteer company 8 dispatched. Only one volunteer available with no vehicles. Brushfire grew, due to increased wind activity in the area, as well as uphill topography, fueling the progression of fire behavior. Choppers 1 and 2 dispatched just prior to BC1 arrival on scene. shortly thereafter a dozer was called for added support to control fire spread near structures, Fire was controlled and final area encompassed approximately 6 acres. a fire break was cut around perimeter as fire was extinguished. All units returned to quarters with no injuries reported on scene.
