Mana Road Fire Update
Mana Road Fire Update
Start Date: 11/7/2025
Location: Mana Road about seven miles from the Mauna Kea Access Road.
Acres: 2,100
Contained: 60%
Closures: Hilo side of Mana Road.
Highlights: Firebreaks have been cut completely around the burn area. The Hawaiʻi Fire Department and Hawaiʻi Division of Forestry and Wildlife continue to maintain the perimeter with support from Hawaiʻi National Guard helicopters. The fire remains outside of the Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge.
Personnel: 60. Participating Agencies: Hawaiʻi Fire Department, Hawaiʻi Division of Forestry and Wildlife, Hawaiʻi National Guard, County Department of Public Works, County Civil Defense Agency, Pōhakuloa Training Area, Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation Highways Division, and Department of Hawaiian Home Lands.
Weather and Smoke: Some afternoon rain showers could impact the fire site today. Smoke will continue to be present as interior pockets of unburned fuels are consumed.
Safety: No residents or structures are threatened. The Daniel K. Inouye Highway and Mauna Kea Access Road are open, but drivers should be careful as some motorists may be distracted by the presence of smoke. Drones and firefighting aircraft do not mix well and could lead to accidents or slow down firefighting operations.
Residents with respiratory or other health concerns are advised to take the following precautions if smoke is present in your area:
• Stay indoors with windows and doors closed.
• Use an air purifier or air conditioning unit.
• Avoid outdoor activity until air quality improves.
