Water Restriction Notice Issued for North Kohala Customers
Water Restriction Notice Issued for North Kohala Customers
AFFECTED AREAS: HĀWĪ TO HALA‘ULA, INCLUDING PUAKEA BAY, KA‘AUHUHU HOMESTEADS, ‘ĀINAKEA VILLAGE SUBDIVISION, and ALL CUSTOMERS ALONG AKONI PULE HIGHWAY, MILL ROAD, AND MA‘ULILI ROAD; NORTH
KOHALA, HAWAI‘I
Effective immediately and until further notice, a Water Restriction Notice has been issued for all Department of Water Supply (DWS) customers in the affected areas. A Water Restriction Notice requires affected customers reduce water use by at least 25 percent.
A water restriction is necessary due to a power outage in the affected areas. Reducing water use will help to maintain water levels in the storage tanks for all customers. It is unknown when electrical service will be restored. Until then, DWS will use an emergency backup generator to operate Hāwī #2 well and station a water tanker at the intersection of Hāwī Road and Kohala Mountain Road for the community’s use.
DWS asks customers to conserve drinking water, use it wisely, and to not waste it. To learn more ways to conserve water, please visit the DWS website at www.hawaiidws.org, call (808) 887-3030 or (808) 961-8050 during normal business hours or email dws@hawaiidws.org. For after-
hours emergencies, please call (808) 961-8790.
DWS thanks affected customers for their understanding and kokua.
