The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory has updated Kilauea volcano’s alert status to WATCH.
An eruption at Halema`uma`u is occurring, there is no immediate threat to any communities. Elevated volcanic gases and fine ash may affect the immediate area and travel downwind into communities.
Due to the eruption please be advised:
- Take respiratory precautions if you are sensitive.
- Volcanic ash and glass are eye, lung and skin irritants, minimize exposure.
