Effective immediately and until further notice, the Department of Water Supply (DWS) has
downgraded the Water Restriction Notice to a Water Conservation Notice for affected customers
from Āhualoa to Waiemi subdivision, including Waimea town. A Water Conservation Notice requests
affected customers reduce water use by at least 10 percent.
Recent rains have filled the DWS’ Waikoloa Reservoirs to a satisfactory level to allow the downgrade.
However, the Waimea Well is under repair and remains offline, so water conservation is necessary to
ensure all affected customers have an adequate supply of water.
This conservation notice applies only to the communities listed above. A separate Water
Restriction Notice requiring higher reductions remains in effect for the Kawaihae, Kawaihae
Harbor, Hapuna Beach Resort, Mauna Kea Beach Resort, Puakō, and Mauna Lani Resort
areas, which are served by a different water system. Refer to DWS’ Public Notices Map at
www.hawaiidws.org for details.
DWS asks customers to conserve drinking water, use it wisely, and to not waste it. Learn about watersaving tips by clicking on the “Conservation” tab at www.hawaiidws.org. For questions, please call
(808) 961-8050 during normal business hours or email dws@hawaiidws.org. For after-hours
emergencies, please call (808) 961-8790.
DWS thanks affected customers for their understanding and kokua.
