Water Conservation Notice Issued for All South Kona Customers

AFFECTED AREAS:  HONALO, KAINALIU, KEEI, KEALAKEKUA, NĀPO‘OPO‘O, HŌNAUNAU, HO‘OKENA; SOUTH KONA, HAWAI‘I

This is an important Department of Water Supply (DWS), County of Hawai‘i, message for Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Effective immediately and until further notice, the Department of Water Supply has issued a Water Conservation Notice for customers in the aforementioned areas.  A Water Conservation Notice requests affected customers reduce water usage by at least 10%.

Water conservation is necessary to maintain adequate water storage while DWS performs emergency repairs to a water tank damaged by the May 22 earthquake.

Performing the following steps will help to conserve water:

  • Wash only full loads of laundry and dishes
  • Check faucets and pipes for leaks
  • Do not let water run when washing hands, shaving, or brushing teeth
  • Reduce showering times

All affected water customers should limit water use for dust control and irrigation.  Find other water-saving tips by clicking on the “Conservation” tab at www.hawaiidws.org.

To reach the DWS, please call (808) 961-8050 or (808) 322-0600 during normal business hours, (808) 961-8790 for after-hour emergencies, or email: dws@hawaiidws.org.

The Department of Water Supply thanks affected customers for their understanding.
