Kona Brush Fire
Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) is currently responding and battling a large brush fire in the area of Kaloko Industrial Area between Kamanu Street and Hina Lani Street in Kailua-Kona just below Ulu Wini Apartments.
At this time, the Kekuaokalani (Kailua) Gym is open as a shelter for residences of the Ulu Wini Apartment.
The fire is not under control nor contained and crews from Kailua, Makalei, Keauhou, Captain Cook, Waikoloa, Waimea, and volunteers from Kanehoa (Waimea) and Kalaoa are on scene or en route to the scene at this time working to contain this brush fire which is currently spreading in multiple directions.
Fri. Dec. 28 3PM. Hawaii Fire reports brushfire in Kona near Hina-Lani St. and Ane Keohokalole Hwy. Old Kona Airport Gym established as a shelter. Avoid area.
