Thomas Couttie, 87, of Kapaau died Aug. 30 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in North Kohala, he was a retired U.S. Navy engineman first class. Private services at a later date. Survived by son, Jeffrey Smith of California; sister, Jeanette Richards of California; four grandchildren and eght great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
