This is a Civil Defense Severe Weather Update message for Wednesday 04-08-2026 10:27 AM.

The National Weather Service has reissued a Flash Flood Warning for Ka`u and Puna Districts. A Flash Flood Warning means flooding is imminent or occurring. Flooding can be life-threatening. Residents in flood-prone areas are asked to remain alert to flooding conditions. Move to high ground, should flash flooding occur. Do not attempt to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.

The National Weather Service Flood Watch for the State and Island of Hawaii remains in effect through Friday and the High Surf Advisory for south facing shores of Hawaii Island, from Keahole Point in North Kona to Cape Kumukahi in Puna remains in effect through Thursday.

For residents in need of sandbags, the County of Hawaii has established Sand Pile locations across the island. Please bring your own shovel and sandbags, and please limit use to only what you need.
