KōCreate: ʻOAKA Now Accepting Applications

HAWAIʻI ISLAND — Applications are now open for KōCreate: ʻOAKA, a two-year civic leadership and workforce development pathway from Vibrant Hawaiʻi, designed for Hawaiʻi Island students entering the 11th grade in the 2026–2027 school year.

KōCreate: ʻOAKA offers a structured, cohort-based experience that helps students understand the systems shaping Hawaiʻi while building meaningful relationships and taking action alongside their peers. Through hands-on projects, mentorship, and leadership opportunities, participants gain real-world experience that supports both career readiness and community engagement.

This selective program equips students with practical skills beyond the classroom, including professional development, collaboration, and systems thinking. Participants can earn references, explore scholarship pathways, and access paid work-based experiences—building both their resumes and their sense of purpose.

“KōCreate: ʻOAKA reflects our commitment to investing in Hawaiʻi Island youth who understand Hawaiʻi’s unique context and are ready to take action within their communities,” said Lucas Klaus, ʻOAKA Coordinator.

Rooted in Vibrant Hawaiʻi’s mission to increase equitable opportunities and support community-driven solutions, KōCreate: ʻOAKA contributes to a broader effort to connect education, workforce pathways, and community leadership across the island.

Educators, families, and community partners are encouraged to share this opportunity with students ready to take the next step.

Applications are available at bit.ly/kocreateoaka and must be submitted by May 22, 2026. Selected applicants will be notified in early June.
