Wendell Akio Mattos Sr., 68, of Kohala died May 12 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Kohala, he was retired from the County of Hawaii Department of Public Works. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at 54-321 Union Mill Road in Kapaau. Service at 10 a.m. Kohala Baptist Church to officiate. Luncheon to follow. Survived by wife, Jeannine Mattos of Kohala; sons, Wendell (Gaylyn) Mattos Jr. of Kohala and William (Allyson) Mattos of Oahu; daughter Tioni (Steve) Maeda of Kohala; brother, Wesley (Dana) of Kona; 11 grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Arrangements by Borthwick Mortuary in Honolulu.
