Big West 2022 postseason honors pour in for Hawaii women’s volleyball team
HONOLULU — Hawaii ran away with the 2022 Big West women’s volleyball championship. It stood to reason that the Rainbow Wahine would do the same with the conference’s postseason awards.
UH’s haul was indeed extensive when the BWC pulled back the curtain on Wednesday. The Wahine received four of the five major awards this season: Middle Amber Igiede was named Big West Player of the Year; Robyn Ah Mow was the Big West Coach of the Year; Kate Lang was the Setter of the Year; and Caylen Alexander was the Freshman of the Year.
Igiede, Lang and hitter Riley Wagoner made the All-BWC first team, while Alexander got a second-team nod.
Of the major awards, only Libero of the Year went elsewhere, to UC Santa Barbara’s Macall Peed.
