Hawaiian Volcanoes Observatory reports the lava supply to the flow front 1.7 miles from Daniel K. Inouye Highway has been cut off from Fissure 3 and has stalled. Active flows continue upslope above the 10,000 foot elevation and are no risk to any communities at this time.
DKI remains open in both directions.
You are reminded that ALL AREAS ADJACENT to Daniel K. Inouye Highway, Old Saddle Road, and near the lava flow are CLOSED and prohibited from access to the public for your safety.
Please stay in designated areas to avoid hazards.
A High Wind Warning for North and South Kohala and a Wind Advisory for Hawaii Island Summits continues and will affect the DKI corridor. Please drive with caution.
