Eruption update for Friday, December 9th at 7am

Civil Defense message.

This is an Eruption update for Friday, December 9th at 7 in the morning.

Hawaiian Volcanoes Observatory reports the lava supply to the flow front 1.7 miles from Daniel K. Inouye Highway has been cut off from Fissure 3 and has stalled.  Active flows continue upslope above the 10,000 foot elevation and are not a risk to any communities at this time.

DKI remains open in both directions.

You are reminded that ALL AREAS ADJACENT to Daniel K. Inouye Highway, Old Saddle Road, and near the lava flow are CLOSED and prohibited from access to the public for your safety.

Please stay in designated areas to avoid hazards.

A High Wind Warning for North and South Kohala and a Wind Advisory for Hawaii Island Summits continues.  Expect windy conditions on the DKI Highway and Please drive with caution.
