Texas’ Hawaii player contingent to battle Louisville for NCAA volleyball championship
Three Hawaii-born players have earned the right to compete for volleyball immortality.
The University of Texas’ islander contingent – setter Saige Ka‘aha‘aina-Torres, defensive specialist Keonilei Akana and reserve hitter Devin Kahahawai – continues to thrive on the national stage. The top-seeded Longhorns defeated No. 2 San Diego in four sets on Thursday for a spot in Saturday’s national championship match in Omaha, Neb.
They will face another No. 1 seed, Louisville, which defeated Pittsburgh and Kamehameha alumna Lexis Akeo in Thursday’s other semifinal.
The national final is 3 p.m. Hawaii time on Saturday.
