Delphine W. Soares, Jr., 82, of North Kohala, died July 17 at home. Born in North Kohala, he was a retired sergeant for the Hawaii Police Department for 32 years and a U.S. Army veteran. Celebration of life to be held 8 – 10:30 a.m. Sept. 30 at the Kohala Village Inn Resiliance Hub Barn. Casual attire. Scattering of ashes to take place at a later date. Survived by wife Dena M. Soares; daughter Tammie (John) Soares Madrid; son Delsen Soares; step-children Ross (Karisma) Pagat, Ryan (Danielle) Pagat and Malia (Duane) Kaitoku; brothers Richard (Debra) Soares, Sam (Stephanie) Soares and Joaquin Soares; sister Marry Ann Alejo; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five step-granchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
