Benjamin K. Raymond, 86, of Kapaau died Nov. 26 at home. Born in North Kohala, he was a retired laborer for the former Kohala Sugar Co. and Dicks Construction, Pankow Construction, Hawaii Dredging and Goodfellow Brothers, retired worker for Kohala Nursery, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of Kohala Senior Citizens Club, a founding leader of Hui Mamalahoa and was involved in numerous North Kohala baseball and basketball organizations. Family visitation 8-9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at St. Augustine‘s Episcopal Church in Kapaau. Public visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. Burial noon at Hawi County Cemetery. Survived by sons, Major (Susan) Raymond, Diamond (Cecilia) Raymond and Darringer (Toma) Raymond of North Kohala; daughters, Janalynn (Vaifoa) Faiva of Independence, Mo., and Melvalyne Taomia of North Kohala; hanai son, Benji (Kim) Raymond of Hilo; in laws, Ruby Cummings, John Pia and Hiram Pia of Kauai; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; . Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
