Pāhoa Community Aquatic Center Reopens March 2
The Pāhoa Community Aquatic Center (PCAC) is scheduled to reopen Monday, March 2, the County of Hawai‘i Department of Parks and Recreation announces.
The pool at William “Billy” Kenoi District Park has been closed since Jan. 24 when episode 41 of the Kīlauea eruption carried ash and Pele’s hair into the pool and surrounding facility.
To ensure public safety and to protect the integrity of the pool’s circulation and filtration systems, the County hired a licensed pool contractor to conduct a thorough cleaning of the entire facility. The project is complete, and the pool is set to resume normal operations.
For updated pool hours, visit the PCAC website.
Parks and Recreation thanks the community for its patience and understanding during this closure.
UPCOMING LIFEGUARDING COURSE
PCAC will be offering a Lifeguarding Certification Course during spring break in March. More details about the course will be available soon. Those who are interested may call the pool at (808) 965-2700 for more information.
