Hoaʻāina Stewardship Day: Kahaluʻu
Saturday, March 14 from 8 a.m.–12 p.m.
Registration is now open for our first Hoaʻāina Stewardship Day at Kahaluʻu Bay and Beach Park. We will focus on deepening our connection with the wahi pana of Kahaluʻu and Hawaiʻi’s coastal environments as hoaʻāina—friends of the land and loving caretakers—through our four ʻāina stewardship practices. You’ll learn about Kahaluʻu as ʻāina lei aliʻi, the lands that adorn the chiefs, and what has made Kahaluʻu so special for generations. We’ll engage in kilo, or intentional observation along the shoreline or in the water. (Please bring your snorkel gear if you’d like to participate in the in-water activity!) And we’ll share a moʻolelo (oral history) of Kahaluʻu and collectively create a moʻolelo of the day as a form of knowledge transmission and reciprocity.
Space is limited and reservations tend to fill up fast, so sign up today! Event details will be provided prior to the event. For more information, please contact us at info@kohalacenter.org or 808-887-6411.
