The Rev. William H. Thornton, 97, of Ainakea died Oct. 6 at home. Born in Kalihi, Honolulu, he retired from the federal government, was a U.S. Army veteran and a reverend (kahu) of Gospel of Salvation Church in Kohala. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Nov. 3 at the Jodo Mission Hall in Hawi. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers and lei welcomed. Cremation to follow and an urn committal service will be held 11 a.m Nov. 23 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery (section A, row 10, plot 5) with military honors. Survived by sons, Charles Karratti of Kapaau, Richard (Cindy) Thornton of Virginia and Rialrome (Anu) Thornton of Honolulu; daughters, Gwendolyn Wallace and Barbara Karratti of Las Vegas, Nev., Lourisla (Allen) Kauanoe and Naomi Thornton of Kaapau, Mariealran (Wayne) Akana and Zariai (Peter) Kaheaku of Honolulu; daughter in-law, Elizabeth Karratti of Kapaau; 27 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and god children.
