James Nobuichi Hanano, 93, of Kapaau, Hawaii died on Dec. 26, 2022 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Kohala, Hawaii on July 14, 1929, he worked at Kohala Sugar Hawaii and retired from Hawaii Preparatory Academy. He was a scoutmaster for Boys Scouts of America and served in the Hawaii National Guard; and was a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church. He is survived by his sons, Jason (Stephanie) Hanano of Hawi and Keven (Cynthia) Hanano of Lihue, Kauai; daughter, Jennifer (John) Colson of Kapaau and Kaky (Geoy) Purdy of Kamuela; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. Private services were held. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
