High Wind and High Surf Advisory update for Monday, February 5th

Civil Defense message.

This a High Wind and High Surf Advisory update for Monday, February 5th at 4 PM.

A National Weather Service High Wind Advisory is in effect for Hamakua, North and South Kohala, North Kona, Ka`u, and lower Puna Districts through Tuesday morning.

Sustained east winds of 30 MPH with gusts of up to 50 MPH are forecast.

Wind this strong can damage trees and make driving difficult.

The National Weather Service has extended the High Surf Advisory for all northeast facing shores of Hawaii Island from Upolu Point in North Kohala to Cape Kumukahi in Puna through Tuesday morning.

All beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers, exercise caution and heed all advice given by Ocean Safety Officials.  And, when in doubt, don’t go out.
