Richard Stephen Kalani Marquez, 79, of North Kohala died July 9 at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired state firefighter captain at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport in Keauhou and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Kohala Gospel of Salvation Church, 55-146 Kokoiki Rd. in Hawi. Celebration of life service at 10 a.m. Aloha attire. Survived by wife, Amaleta “Leta” Marquez of North Kohala; daughters, Kennilyn (Scott) Wright of Colorado, Tracy (Walter) Koki of Oahu and Annette Marquez of Michigan; brothers, Calvin (Fran) Marquez of North Kohala and Abel (Linda) Marquez of Honokaa; sister-in-law, Pamela Marquez of North Kohala; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.
