Army & Hawaii Scouts Sign Letter of Support

Pohakuloa Training Area recently signed a “Letter of Support” with the Girl Scouts of Hawaii and the Boy Scouts Aloha Council.

The move solidifies a legacy partnership between the two local service organizations and the U.S. Army at the military installation situated in the Saddle, between Mauna Loa and Maunakea.

Now, the Army at PTA is able to assist and partner with these two groups on service projects, special events and similar cases where manpower and labor are in high demand.

“This is a special day for PTA, and we are honored to have forged this partnership with the Girl Scouts of Hawaii and the Boy Scouts Aloha Council,” said Lt. Col. JR Borce, commander of Pohakuloa Training Area.

Historically, the Army has partnered with the two groups locally on projects including recently helping repair cabins at Camp Kilohana, road repairs and other structural handyman-type projects.

“PTA requires all military units training at PTA to participate in a community project of some sort while temporarily here on Hawaii Island, and this partnership helps that,” Borce said.
