Silom Yamamoto, 85, of Kaauhuhu, Kohala, died Dec. 7 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Makapala, Kohala, he was retired as garage manager for Kahua Ranch, was employed by Parker Ranch, Seymour and Priscilla Shingle, Alicia Shingle King and Stillman Ranch, a U.S. Army veteran and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kohala Ward. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 22) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kohala Ward, 55-524 Hawi Rd. in Hawi. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Urn burial private. Casual attire. Survived by companion, Sharmaine Solomon of Kohala; daughters, Iris Sarah Yamamoto and Ginger (Rodney) Ishimine of Kohala; brothers, William (Mildred) Yamamoto and Kamaka Yamamoto of Hilo, Manuel (June) Yamamoto of Halaula; sisters-in-law, Ethel Yamamoto of Kapaau, Hanako Yamamoto of Niulii, Rosemarie Yamamoto of Lakeside, Ariz., Rose K. Ha of Wahiawa, Oahu, and Mary K. Lee of Waipahu, Oahu; five grandchildren; nephews, nieces and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
