Kohala Obituary 4/8/2025, Genevieve Torres Murphy
Genevieve Torres Murphy died in Alexandria, MN on April 8, 2025. She was born and raised in Halaula, Kohala and was a retired elementary school teacher in Wisconsin. Genevieve met her husband George Murphy when both were attending the University of Hawaii. After marriage they made their homes in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She was a 1950 graduate of Kohala High School and earned her teaching degree in 1955 from the University of Hawaii. Genevieve was preceded in death by husband George Murphy, her parents Marco and Emma Torres, and her only brother Marco Torres Jr. She is survived by her children Ruth (Jim) Grundman, Michael (Randi) Murphy and Catherine Murphy; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Carmen Woolford of Michigan and Alexa (Fred) Francisco of Kohala. She belonged to the Faisca/Torres ohana of Hawaii. Services were held in Alexandria, MN with arrangements by Lind Funeral Services.
