Edmund Kong
Edmund “Ed” Velman Kong, 48, of Kawaihae died Aug. 20, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a landscaper, commercial painter and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Friends may call 8:30-9:45 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea. Funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kauwe Family Cemetery in Waimea. Casual attire.
He is survived by companion, Rhoda Awaa of Kawaihae; daughter, Elizabethrose Awaa-Kong of Kawaihae; son, Kawika Awaa-Kong of Kawaihae; stepdaughter, Helen Awaa of Hilo; stepson, Kaulana Awaa of Hilo; parents, Russell, Sr. and Glennlee Kong of Kawaihae; brothers, Russell Kong, Jr. of Kawaihae, Keoni Kong of Kawaihae; sisters, Elizabeth (Anson) Kong-Yim of Waikoloa, Roselee (Keoni) Ahana of Waimea; five grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
